Looking back on 2014…
- Ed: either one of the fauna, or an unshaven climber…
- [Ed: assume the girls did this… very pretty, A*]
- Sword fighting on the Cioch… boys will be boys!
- Catherine going for the Artic look (or is it a new Doctor Who enemy…?)
- Telemark Heroes… or was it Teletubby Heroes
- GMC on the classic Aonach Eagach ridge
- Sun, sea and Severes – what more could you want?!
- A few smiles whilst huddling under the tarp in the morning rain…
- Summit ridge of Castor
- Spot the climbers!
- I summit Mont Blanc on 16th July 2014
- Sunset from Glyders – and, yes, headtorches carried and used!
Another great year for the GMC…
Winter: Snowy trip to Patterdale for the first time. Scottish Winter trip’s highlight is Aonach Eagach Ridge. Mollie’s Everest talk. Norwegian trip to Rjukan, and having breakfast with Andy Kirkpatrick. Curly Rich wins photocomp with grassy fence! GMC public website relaunched.
Spring: First rock climbing trips of the year. Peaks trip sees Tristan learning about prussiks the hard way. Lots of day trips to Bowles, Portland and Swanage. Bank holiday trips to Pembroke and Lakes. Bigger trip to Skye for rain, stumbling through the mist and some remote bothying on Raasay.
Summer: BBQ trip to Wye Valley – though first day taken up with cider farm and cream teas. Easter’s traditional Font trip for bouldering fun. Bernese Alps for very wet first week, before glorious second week with few remaining attendees! Rare trip to Lundy for hardcore climbing. Flash BBQs at Waterside Centre.
Autumn: More Peaks, Lakes and Swanage. GMC library renewed with big set of new books. Hot Rock trip to Morroco. Big fundraiser with Everest Challenge weekend. Christmas Hut weekend in Snowdonia, with perfect blue skies. AGM with new committee blood!
Bring on 2015!
