28 May 2014

A magnificently well attended bank holiday weekend meet, despite a less than perfect weather forecast.

Scrambling on Sharp Edge during the forecast rain…

The activities enjoyed included:

  • A BBQ which went out in the rain
  • Sampling of two fine Lake District pubs
  • Shopping trip to Keswick (a variety of people forgot their toothbrush, poked a hole in their waterproof map case, or had their thermarest go down in the middle of the night)
  • Playing on the Bowderstone
  • Trip up Catbells
  • En-mass trip up Blencathra via Sharp Edge (in surprisingly good weather)
  • Explorations of Millican Dalton’s cave and Attic Cave
  • Two people in a one man tent for two nights
  • Massive walk of the Dale Head round
  • Grade 1,2,3 scrambling expeditions  around Borrowdale
  • Climbing in the rain
  • Gavin and Gillian going for a walk (and not just to the pub!)
  • Tim answering the door in his pants as the entire club knocked on the door of his new camper van
  • Getting seriously midged
  • Two new members seeming to have a wicked time

Happily I can confirm that Roger’s waterproof map stayed dry in his waterproof map case.  Always best to be doubly sure, eh Roger?!
