Last night was the AGM with a good chunk of the membership attending. There was a review of the year, a review of the finances and two changes to the club’s constitution. Tim will do the official set of minutes in due course as his last act as Secretary before setting down. In the meantime, here’s a slightly random collection of key points:
- We are a great mountaineer club: active and welcoming
- 2013 saw two lots of four blue sky days in Wales – how often does that happen?
- Lots of alpinism virginity lost, and JP went back for more twice in a month
- Claire doing amazingly with her fundraising – inc £600+ from one event – setting a v high bar to follow
- Welcoming Dave Wall to the committee, and eagerly anticipating the Real Ale Train trip
- An unexplained reference to ‘touching the cloth’ from Mark E
- Rog’s account (geddit?!) of the finances: we broke roughly even
- How long can a committee member last? Typically three years but not more than five
- The perennial problem of how to encourage new blood into the committee
- Increase understanding of what it takes: look out for ‘my life as a meets sec’ blog post soon
- Final call to join the Christmas Party … tell JP by 18 December …
